Hotel AHU Modifications
Project Summary: Air Handling Unit Modification at a Park Lane Hotel, London
Ecomec successfully delivered a comprehensive air handling unit (AHU) modification project at a prestigious and busy hotel in Park Lane, London.
The project was undertaken to enhance airflow delivery to the 1st-floor restaurant, addressing performance challenges by repositioning the heating and cooling coils and modifying associated pipework and valves.
Scope of Works
- Isolation and Removal:
- Disconnected chilled water (CHW) and low-temperature hot water (LTHW) pipework from the AHU.
- Mechanically un-fixed and removed the existing heating and cooling coils from their original positions.
- AHU Modifications:
- Altered the internal configuration of the AHU to accommodate the new coil positions.
- Pipework Rerouting:
- Rerouted DN65 LTHW and DN80 CHW pipework to the new coil positions within the AHU.
- Installed new isolation valves to enhance system control and maintainability.
- Coil Relocation:
- Successfully relocated the heating and cooling coils to their new positions within the AHU.
- Access Enhancement:
- Supplied and installed a new custom AHU door to provide easy access to the relocated coils.
- Structural Repairs:
- Repaired and sealed pipework penetrations in the AHU sections to maintain structural integrity and airflow efficiency.
- Thermal Insulation:
- Thermally insulated all pipework with 25mm insulation, finished with hammered aluminum cladding for durability and aesthetics.
- Testing and Commissioning:
- Filled, pressure-tested, and verified all pipework connections to ensure leak-free operation.
- Brought the AHU back into service, ensuring optimal performance and improved airflow to the restaurant.
This project demonstrates Ecomec’s expertise in delivering complex HVAC solutions within high-profile environments, ensuring minimal disruption while achieving significant performance improvements.
