Gas Detection System Installation

Ecomec successfully delivered a comprehensive gas detection system installation within the laundry room at Hilton Euston.

This installation enhances safety by ensuring that, in the event of a gas leak, the laundry room gas appliances are automatically and safely shut off. The system integrates advanced gas detection technology to monitor potential hazards, providing a reliable solution for the protection of hotel staff, guests, and property.

Key Features of the Gas Detection System

The system installed includes a state-of-the-art gas detection panel, which continuously monitors the presence of hazardous gases, including Natural Gas (Methane) and Carbon Monoxide (CO).

These sensors are strategically positioned to detect leaks promptly and trigger an immediate response. Additionally, the system incorporates heat detectors that are directly linked to a Gas Shut-Off Valve, ensuring that, in the presence of excess heat or gas leaks, the supply is cut off safely.

Scope of Works

To deliver a robust and efficient gas safety solution, Ecomec carried out the following installations and commissioning:

Gas Shut-Off System

• Supplied and installed a 15mm Gas Solenoid Valve in the laundry room, serving the tumble dryer, to enable immediate gas shut-off in case of a detected leak.

Gas Interlock System

• Supplied and installed a S&S Northern Merlin Gas Interlock Panel, which integrates all safety sensors and controls the gas shut-off process.

Gas Detection Sensors

• Supplied and installed a CH4CO Methane Detection Sensor and a Natural Gas (NG) Sensor to provide continuous gas monitoring and leak detection.

Heat Detection System

• Supplied and installed two heat detectors, designed to activate the shut-off mechanism if high temperatures indicate a potential fire hazard.

Emergency Safety Measures

• Supplied and installed an Emergency Stop Button, allowing manual activation of the gas shut-off system for added safety control.

Electrical Integration & Commissioning

• Completed all necessary electrical connections for the gas interlock system.

• Conducted comprehensive testing and commissioning to ensure the seamless functionality and reliability of the newly installed system.
