Town Centre Hospitality Venue

This Town Centre Hospitality venue has undergone a significant transformation, breathing fresh air—both literally and figuratively—thanks to the innovative solutions provided by Ecomec.

Ecomec successfully completed the air conditioning and ventilation installation for a new coffee shop located in Central Reading. This project was crucial for ensuring the café’s environment would be comfortable and energy-efficient, while also enhancing the overall customer experience.

The scope of the project included the installation of two Midea heat recovery ventilation (HRV) units. These units are vital for maintaining a fresh and healthy indoor environment as they continuously supply fresh air while recovering heat from the exhaust air, thus maximizing energy efficiency. The HRV units were integrated with an extensive network of supply and extract ductwork, designed to evenly distribute fresh air throughout the café and effectively manage indoor air quality.

In addition to the ventilation system, Ecomec installed three Midea split air conditioning cassettes. These units were strategically placed to provide both heating and cooling to the café, ensuring that the indoor climate could be precisely controlled throughout the year. The air conditioning system not only regulates temperature but also contributes to maintaining the overall air quality by supplying conditioned air to the space.

For the air distribution, fresh air was delivered into the café via circular multi-cone diffusers. These diffusers were connected to spirally wound ductwork, which was left exposed as part of the interior design, adding an industrial aesthetic to the space while being functional. The visible ductwork and diffusers were carefully installed to enhance the visual appeal of the café while maintaining optimal air flow and comfort.

To ensure proper ventilation, the HRV units were connected to the outside atmosphere through newly installed louvred openings on the side elevation of the property. These louvres were carefully integrated into the building’s exterior, allowing for efficient exhaust of stale air and intake of fresh air without compromising the building’s appearance.

Overall, the project was completed to a high standard, ensuring that the new coffee shop benefits from a state-of-the-art air conditioning and ventilation system that supports a comfortable, healthy, and energy-efficient environment for both customers and staff.
